The 20,000 sqft store features an all glass staircase and bridge. The stair case is formed from laminated toughened glass walls acting as the primary load bearing structure supporting glass treads. The treads span 2.4m, the widest free spanning treads which have been created for the stores. They use a multi-laminated annealed glass build up with bespoke titanium fittings ‘cast in’ during the laminating process.

The glass bridge is 6m wide and spans 6m. The side glass guardrails act as the load bearing structural beams, picking up secondary glass beams supporting the glass bridge deck.

In addition to the glass elements a significant amount of restructuring of the internal steel work was required to create the space.

Each Apple store is a collaboration between specialist designers, fabricators and installers from across Europe and the USA. Every project attempts to explore and move forward the technology and language of structural glass." name="Apple Store" location="Regent Street, London
